Walking the Pilgrim Path from Paris to Chartres
Sun, 15th May until Sun, 22th May. 2011
The cathedral of Chartres is one of the most mysterious and beautiful places on earth.Taking this pilgrimage from Paris ending in the middle of the labyrinth at Chartres is a very special experience. The way from Paris to Chartres is particularly nice to walk and manageable for everyone. We will use public transport on some short distances. Three walking days with approximately 25 km each are scheduled. We spend three nights in a hostel right next to the cathedral in Chartres.
Gernot Candolini will introduce you to the wisdom of the labyrinth and to the unusual symbolic language of the Gothic time and especially Chartres.
Paula D’Arcy will share her insights of womanhood on the road. She will particularly speak about the mystery and meaning of the “Black Madonna”.
The trip will be a chance to meet people from all over the United States and from Europe. To be on this trip together will connect people to share an extraordinary piece of their walk on earth, linked into their spiritual search and being connected to the fruitful history of medieval thinking. Our journey always circles (like a labyrinth) around the great themes of our life which have to do with being grounded well (like a Black Madonna) and reaching high into heaven (like a gothic cathedral).
We will spend one day in Paris (St. Denis – the birth of gothic – guided tour)
